DOPED
A young man from Mill City
caused . considerable excitement in tho

nt tho house, which was occupied at
tho time by Mrs. Coffoy and two small
children. After knocking nt tho door,
which was oponcd by tho lady of tho
house, ho tried to forco an entrance,
but was provontod by her slamming tho
door in his fncc. Sho locked it, nnd
then dashed out of a rear doory and
w"ont to n neighbor's liouso for assistance.
A genornl call to arms resulted, and
tho intruder was soon sprawling on
his back, hors do combat. Ho was es
corted to tho police station by tho of
ficers, nnd, nftor n rest, was nblo to
clvo a partial account of himself. .Ho
Bnid that ho visited Salem on business,
and fell in with n strangor yesterday,
just boforo tho timo for tho Albany
local in tho evening.. Tho two startod
for tho depot, and on tho way partook
of a liquid out of a bottle, which tho

drink that ho had during tho day, and
ho wns soon out of his head, nnd rocol
locts but very littlo that transpired
nftor that timo until ho nwoko in jail

Ho had a certificate of deposit for
$ 250 on nn Albany bank, nnd was well
dressed. Ho rogrotjed tho occurrence
very much, nnd is, nnxlous to find tho
w friend. It is thought thnt some
rounder had him spotted, und intended
to do him bodily harm, If he could in
duce tho Mill City mnn to wander out
