the preservation of tho world's peace.

tho President of tho United Stutos

for the exposition, after which repre
sentatives of each country mndo short
addresses. A reception by tho board of
lady mauugers anda banquet tendered
by President Francis is tho program for
today.
Special Excursion to 8t Louis.
August 8, 9 and 10, Soptember 5,
6 and 7 and October 3, 4 and 5 are
the remaining dates upon which tick
ets will be sold at the reduced rates

wounded Ed. Wollman in Edward. Hor
rcn's hop yard near Aurora Monday
morning. Martini leaped on tho bicy
cle and fled toward Portland. Mar
tini's homo is in Vancouver, Wash.
Wollman will recover unless blood poi
soning sets in. One bullet struck him
in tho chest, but glanced, a second
pierced his left hnnd. His homo is at
Chelinlis, Wash.

son had done. When Wollman camo
upon him, tho pastor had tied his boy
up against tho fence, and was beating
him mercilessly. Wollman interposod.

nnd fled.
