Mrs. Maybrick Wants
Rest When She Gets
to America

London, Aug. 13 The London Dal
ly Chronicle this morning prints an
Interview with Mrs. Florence ' May
brick, obtained In Southern France,
where the American woman has been
spending her time since he release
from prison In England. Mrs. May
brick Is described as being clear
wltted and outspoken, and Is mildly
robust, despite the years spent be
hind prison walls. Her face is some
what drawn, showing the traces of
grief and suffering, while her yes
have the listless appearance customa
ry after the moriotonous routine of
prfeono life. Tho ChTonlcle, howover,
declares Mrs. Maybrick has every ap
pearance of confidence In her de
meanor and an entire absence of ner
vousness or embarrassment. Her
first remark to the Interviewer, -according
to tho Chronicle, was a re
quest that he express her thanks for
the congratulations she has received
frpirt all parts of the world on her
release.
"Please tell every one," she is
quoted as saying, "that I am as firm
in protesting my innocence of the ac
cusation on which I was Imprisoned
as tho day I was -sentenced, and am
praying for the time to come when
that innocence" will be proved to the
world."
Speaking of the incidents of her
Imprisonment, Mrs. Maybrick declared
she had been shown nothing but
kindness by the officials, and recalled
visits by Lord Rothschild, Home Sec
retaries Asqulth and Ridley, Lord
Russell and others, of whose efforts
hi her behalf she speaks in the most
grateful terms. She said as soon as
certain legal matters in which she is
interested are disposed' of, she will
visit friends and then travel
Asked If she would change her
name, Mrs. Malyhrick feld: "I do not
know; I am afraid I Bhall have little
peace while I bear the name of May
brick. Let mo die out of the memory
of people on both sides" of the Atlan
tic. I have suffered' enough, God
knows." Mrs. Maybrick declared she
was most anxious to get to the United
States, saying: "I shall feel happier
there."
About a reconciliation with her
children'. Mrs. Maybrick said It was
too early to say, as there were many
things to bo considered before that
