holding court In Yamhill county Ho
was not at the Democratic convontlon
that renominated him, but Is very
much pleased at the endorsement. Ho
says be Is not a Democrat, having last
affiliated with tho Populist party, but
will accept their nomination, though
considering that be Is nominated as
an independent candidate on a peti
tion, as ho was tho other tlmo he ran.

Tho fees received by tho county
clerk during that time amounted to
$347.90, and by tho recorder $435.90.

Glee Club Returns.
Tho Wlllamotto University Glee
Club roturned from thoir tour of East
ern Oregon, and several other places,
none tho worse for wear, and, as one
of the boys said, encountering no
stale eggs but at some of tho hotels.
They were knocked out by floods and
a3houts, but never got out of breath,
except when somo of the country au
diences gave them three to five en
cores in a grand oftort to got their
money's worth. Professor Seeloy has
giown several Inches In several ways,
besldos being swelled up over tho
general triumph of the "tower."
Tho tour was a series of triumphs
from tho first concert at Oregon City
to the last ono at Welsor, Idaho. The,
other towns favored by tho Gloo Club
wore Hood River, The Dalles, Pendle
ton, La Grande, Unjon. Bnkor City,
Caldwell, Nampa and'Boise.

Supt. Nod Loonoy has secured a
lecture from Prof. Kinsley, of tho
Stato Agricultural College for Friday
night, April 22d, on chemistry, and It
will bo Illustrated with somo of tho
profossor's experimental apparatus.
On Friday evening, tho 29th, Gov,
Fletcher will lecture to tho boys and
qmployos, and somo of tho most In
corrlglblo of tho teachers on "Living
and Dead Lions." It Is a favorite sub
ject of his and Fletcher don't do a
thing but mako pooplo laugh, and try
to entortaln thorn. Incidentally,
