The board will, at this session, bo presided over by Prosldont Wohmng for the last time, as his res ignation, recently filed with the gov ernor, has been accented, as has- the one of J. i. Settlqmlor, of Woodburn a member of the board, and their suc cessors have been appointed. Frank Loo, of Portland, succeeds Mr. Settlemlcr, his term to expire March 14. 100C. and W. H. Downing, of Shaw, will succeed Mr. Wohrung, to serve until .larch 14, 1907. These gentle men took tne oath of office In the gov ernor's office this morning, and will take their seatvj Immediately after the present board disposes of tho last year's buBincm, when the election of officers will be held, as a complete new eet lias to be chosen. President Wehrung's report shows that this year's fair premiums were paid. In livestock agriculture and do mestic arts exhibits, aggregating $10, 3845, or $384.45 more than the state appropriation made for that purpose. Needed Improvements were also made. Including the water system, cos Ing in all $0298.36. Warrants wore issued for thoso Improvements on the Improvement fund. Secretary Wisdom, in his roport, states that tho fair was a success In overy department, and the rncea espe cially wore of tho beet. Tho two $2000 (fakes which closed early, brought in more funds in entry fees thnn tho purses amounted to, ono bringing In $2100 and tho other $2005. A flno tri bute Is paid to the prom of the stato for tho excollent work done, and the exhibitors are all reported as being well pleased, whether thoy secured tho blue ribbon or not, and ho predicts the greatest success for the fair In 1904. Tho receipts of tho fair were $35,375.83, and the disbursements $31,247.38. leaving mi not profit of $4, 128.45. This added to the balance on hand from tho proceeding year, $393. CO, gives a balance on hand of $4522.- 05.
