Tho wlfo of John Dyo died nt Chen-
oweth, Wash.. April 8. Sho was an
Indian woman, aged about 70 years.
Her name waa Elizabeth, nnd sho was
known ns Uetsy. In hor youth sho
was noted for her beauty. Sho claimed
that Phil Sheridan woh for n tlmo hor
husbacd, by whom sho bad one child,
a daughter. Thla daughtor. under tho
name of Sheridan, rsnrrled a half
breed named Olney, nephew of tho
lato Judgo Olnuy of Astoria. Doth,
Olney nnd his wife aro dead. They
had four children who aro now on tho
reservation. Elizabeth was married1
sevoral times but hod only tho onnl
child. About 15 years ago she mar )
rted John Dye. a veteran of tho civil (
wnr, who served In tho Union army In (

under General Phil Shorldan In the
