Sarah Glenn, a colored woman, was
taken off tho southbound California
overland Wednesday night, and de
tained on a charge of lobhory. Tln ar
rest was made by Chief of Police Olb
Hon and Night Omrors Lewis and Mur
phy, on tologrnphlc advice from tho
authorities at Poeatollo, Idaho.
Tho woman was found In the Pull
man car, and was In company with a
colored man, whoso nntno was not
learned. When takon from the boith
tho ofllcors took possession of a purso
that was found beneath tho pillow. Tho
man remonstrated, claiming that it
was his Individual proporty, but tho
olllcors would not see It that way, nnd
tho trip to tho pollco station was bo
gun. The colored couplo wore permit
'ted to walk togotlror, and everything
went nil right until Stato street was
i leached, when tho man romaikod that
ho guessed he would go back, but Chief
! OlbBon thought dlffciently, nnd with
(somo persuasion tho man was Induced
to accompany tho party. Chief Gib
son's suspicions that tho follow had
succeeded In getting hold of tho wo
man's purso wns conflimed at tho po
llco station, when, upon being
searchod, it lady's pockotbook contain
