ending Monday, July 28:
General Summary.
The past week has been rnlnloss and
witli temperature averaging slightly
above tho normal. Only one or two
days tho winds were hot, and It Is
thought they caused sumo slight dam
age to spring giuln. The Harvesting of
fall grain continues, and In Southern
Oregon tho work Is wull along. No
threshing of 'consequence has yet
been done, nnd It Is too early to obtain
much Information regarding the
yields. Tho grain heads aro Inrge
and tho berry is plump, but fears are
entertained that In the Umatilla wheat
section the ylolds will bo disappoint
ing. Elsewhere It Is thought they
will bo up to expectations. The out
look is favorable for a heavy crop of
oats.
Pastures have dried up fast during
the wook. but slock continues In good
condition. Iti the coast counties, and
In the plateau section of tho state the
hay crop turned out to be larger and
butter thnn expected.
Knily potatoes are spotted with
blight In some sections in the coast
counties, but In goneinl, both early
and lute potatoes wo doing well. Hops,
corn, sugar beets. Held onions nnd gar
dons continue to mnke 'satisfactory
advancement.
Italian prunes in many sections are
reported a total failure. Tho apple
crop promises to ho a fair one, nnd so
far tho damage by codllu moth has
been much less than usunl.
Willamette Valley.

warm; corn, potatoes and vegetables
aro growing nicely; cherries are about
gone, and the-crop was abundant; tho
prune crop, both Italian nnd Petite. Is
good; apples aro fulling; some fall
