Some say thare can be no fixed salaries for state officials, unless the
Constitution Is amended. Do not be deceived. The State Constitution Is
only a limitation. The legislature Is not prohibited from providing fair sal
aries, but It Is Inhibited giving fees and perquisites. An amendment offered
to add after each Constitutional Salary the words "And no more" was voted
down In the Constitutional convention.
