those around her to lead a bettor life,
and always having a kind word for

Franklin St. Clair Vail, the flvo-year
old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. It. Tall of
this city, died In Portland, Monday af
ternoon, Jan. 0, 1002, Ho was with his
mother, who was visiting her parents
there, and became eorioualy ill several
days ago with spasmodic laryngitis, lie
was taken to St. Vlncont'e hospital for
treatment.
Tho father of the boy, who is press
man at the Statesman olllco, was notified
of tho eorious illness last Sunday and
went thero Sunday afternoon. Tho re
mains woro brought to Salem today, and
the funoral will bo held at the family
homo in South Salem, Wednesday at
2:20 p. m. and burial will be in the City
View cemetory.
