Makes Comments That
Will Create Amusement.

J. H. Gates was arrested Tuesday at
Kugeno by Sheriff Wltheraon the charge
of forgery. He was taken bofore Justice
Wintormler. Ho waived examination
and wan placed in tho county Jail.
TiiPBdiiy morning, shortly before 11
o'clock, Gates ontered the First Nation
al Hank and prosonted to Cashier P. E.
Snodgras a check on the First National
Hank of Portland for 75, with the name
of -Henry Corbett" attached theroto.
Mr. Snodgrass Immediately suspected
that tho check was a forgery, and held
Gutes until Sheriff Withers, who was
telephoned to, nrrivel, when ho was
turned over to that oilkial.
It is evident that Gates, who has boon
