HIS HOLDING WERE TEN MILLIONS---
WHO HIS SUCCESSOR WILL BE
Interesting: Question of What Will Become of the Daly In-
teresh-Will Be Managed By the Standard u
Oil Company. ..... .j
ii r ..ooiart rrr. i ' i
New Yoiik, Nov. 13. Tho Journal of
Com inorco today says: Mnrcus Daly's
connection with the copper interests of
tho lountry is well. known. Willi J. B.
flaggin ho owned a controlling interest
in tho great Anaconda mine until it was
turned o'ver to Ibo Amalgamated Cop
per company last year. Tho value of
his holdings in Anaconda at the time
tho transfer was made was estimated
by eomo'at. considerably in1 excess of
$ 10,000,000.
It was tho opinion of copper men gen-
orallj that Mr. Daly'H death would have
little effect upon tho interests of tho
Amalgamated Copper Company. His
long illness had practicallay forced him
out of tho active management of the
company for many months. Tho stock
of tho company advanced over two
points in tho early dealings though re
acting Bomowhat later.
It is barely iiossiblo that tho death of
Mr. Daly may have n tondoncy to bring
about an earlier settemeut of the Mon
tana lltgatton than would other wico
have been possible.
ConRldornblo interest baa been maul
fested over tho probable diBposhbof Air.
Daly'ii holdings of Amalgamated Coper
slock. According to nomo reports Mr.
Daly sold out the bulk of his holdings
long ago.
Others In clow touch with the com
pany deny this and say that Uio tock
had not been sold and Hint Mr. Daly's
hoirs nni not likely to soil it. According
to some accounts, however, tho Stand
ard Oil interests wilt take care of the
Daly Interests.
Nothing dotunato as to tho successor
of Mr. Duly as Prcrldontof tho company
was obtainable but It is tho opinion of
many that II. II. Ilogors, Vice-President
,o( tho company will fill tire position. In
this connection It may bo worth noting
that Mr. Ilogors recently made an ex
tended trip to tho Anuconda and other
Amalgamated Copper properties.
