McKinley in his encouragement of the

conditions in Manila.
After Mr. Morehcad sat down, the
chairman announced that this concluded
the program and invited any ono else
who could think of anything to Bay to
conio forward and say it. Mr. Fred
Kundret, tho shoemakor, aroeo and
asked thut tho Prohibition platform bo
read. This caused quite a flutter.

contrary. It vnn a rousing off hand and
forcible 'demonstration of tho fact that
thoro aro other issues than prohibition
before tho people, and ho claimed that
a comparatively small part of our ills

that the Pennsylvania miners, working
for $250 a year, could not bo charged
with povorty because they spent their
money for liquor. Ho cited an Inbtanco
of a strike in San Francisco of girls who

claimed that our girls needed protection
as much as our big, husky boys in tho
Philippines.
