ander for conspiracy to rob tho United

fendant Wednesday,
Alexander professes to be an'nmatcur
dctectlvoland accompanied two young
men In an expedition to rob a 'stage for
the purposoof securing tlieir conviction.
John Berkley, one of the young men
Implicated, testified against Alexander
this morning, and will contlnuo his
story this afternoon. Barkley, although
scarcely 21 years old, rnakesngood wit
ness and does not become confused un
der cross-oxamlnatlng, nor loso track of
his ideas. He detailed tho Incidents
leading up to tho stage robbery and un
qualifiedly placed all the blame on Alex
ander, declaring tho country detective
rnnpntnd the various plans of robberies
contemplated, nnd even went so far as to
furnish money for Incidental expenses.
Accordlntr to Barkley, Alexander did
