registration of voters, and says that un
less tho citizens come in fatiter during
the first part of tho tlmo during which
the book is open, there is likely to bo a
rush toward tho lost that will leavo
some good voters hanging over the edge
when tho books close, which thoy must
do at 0 o'clock p. in. May 15th,
It seens quite a while till May 15, and
probably it lias not qccurred to many
voters that there is any occasion to lo in
a hurry, but when it is figured out it is
seen that thero is none too great a mar-
gin.
Thero aro about n,500 voters in tho '
county. The county clerk says that
ho can register about 100 per day if thoy i
appear in person at his olllcu. When
thoy register before notaries and tho
blanks are cent to him he can handle
about 50. Ho thinks that about half the
names will come in lu that way. On this
basis thero are 9(1 days' work. Less thau
200 have registered now, and tli'-io are
107 days left after today. This leaves a
margin of only 11 days, If applications
cotno in fast enough to keep one mnu
busy all tho time.
