To Promote the Industry In the Willam ette Valley Meet Again Oct. as. In obedience to a call issued by some of tho prominent hop growers of the Willamette valley over one hundred growers met In Woodburn on Octolnir IHtli and organized tho "Willamette Valley Hop Growers Association." It is seldom that a more determined, hardy nud intelligent looking American producers assemble. There were present leprosontativo growers' of at least 15,000 bales of hops, nearly all of whom were earnest in an effort at the solution of the problem of co-operating for their best interest. Tho hop buyer was conspicuous by his absence, as the meeting was to bo strictly a gathering of growers. The meeting was called with a view to securing better market for tho hops, Tho call was signed by such men as M, 1.. Jones, Join T. Itlsely, Win. Kagan, Geo. 11. Ifovendon, Henry K. llents, and many others. The meeting was called to order at 11 o'clock, and temjiorary organization ef fected. Geo. II. Ilovcnden was chosen prcsi. dent, II. L. llents, secretary, and Frank Puller, treasurer. A committee of (ho was apiwlntcd to formulate a plan of organization as fol fel fol eows: II, L. Ileuts, John H. Kosly, M. I.. Jones, James Winstanloy and W. K, Her. Tho committee to report at 1 p. in. Tho rest of tho forenoon was taken up In short speeches and talks among which were many very intelligent state ments of tho dilllculties attending tho grower and much credit is due to II. I.
