Moise was out of town and then offered

fail to prove a single item of all their
scandalous charges, why do they appeal

Mr. Ulngbam's claim of being an!
mated by a desire to help tho widow is a
fraud on tho face of It. He was guilty o
an unprofessional act of conduct in tak
ing advantage of his friendly relations
with the administrator, of securing a
private sale of tho assets of the Woltc
estate without tlie knowledge of tbe
legal adviser of the widow, and procur
ing its sale to himself as an interested
party.
Wo are well aware (hat UiIh suit of
Mlnglium mid Patterson Ut have a re
ceiver appointed is now before tho su
premo court for decision, and wo would
not seek to discuss tliu merits of the
ciso before that august tribunal. Hut
wo do believe, lieforo Ood and man, that
it would bo an act of justice for tlie
court lo heme an order annulling that
sale of stock procured by Mr. Mingham
of himself, by himself mid to himself,
while acting free gratis for tlie widow to
"savo expense."
Search all the probate courts of our
country and wo do not lsjlievo that such
a tiling was ever done by a lawyerclalm
ing to bo a reputable attorney. What
did Mr. Mingham want the stock for?
Ho testifies that wo had been "lying
about him unmercifully for two or three
years, misrepresenting him and his
business matters." What had been
said was Unit bo had collected dolfh
qnont taxes against the Oregon Pacific
railroad. Tho courts gavo Marion county
a judgment for taxes of about f 12,000, as
the courts gavo to all other counties that
bad tax claims. Remember tho judg
ment waH to UiIh county. Ilingham
claimed t contract with the county, not
a word of which was on record by which
lie took out 10 ior cent as his own fees,
and turned tho rest over lo the county.
When Tiik Jouu.vai. compelled him to
at least file a bill for bis services, it was
shown that he bad taken several hun
dred dollars too much mid be paid it

about his private business!"
