STOLEtf BICYCLES' RECOVERED,
A Wheel Taken From Barlow Monday
Is Found In Salem Wednesday.
A Crown bicycle, 97 model, No 10,
8.JO was one of the articles placed
aboard the afternoon local for Barlow
station, Clackamas county. It was
sent by the Wells Fnrgo&Co's ex
press and was consigned toll. 10. Ir
win, who resides at Barlows station
and from whom the wheel was stolen
on Monday of this week.
Chief of Police Dlllcy, of tills city,
wasnotiliedof the theft of the bf
cyelo about 11 p.m. Monday and was
also furnished a description of the
wheel. Himself andassoclatcscloseiy
observed all wheels corresponding
with the description of the one re
ported stolen but were unsuccessful
in discovering the missing bicycle.
Among those to whom the police of
Icors made known the news of the
theft and to wliom was furnished
a description or the stolen wheel,
were the Postal Telegraph mes'song
rs wIiom; business calls them to all
parts or the city, aud vuo frequently
dlsrovcr at. least a clew that leads
to arrest and detention of some cul
prit. About 2 o'clock. Wednesday after-
neon. Johnnie Portor. one of the mes
senger boys, observed a bicycle,
whose general appearnncc corres
ponded with the description of the
missing wheel, stationed on the north
side of the Eldrldgc block on Che
mcketa street. He promptly notified
Chlcr of Police Dlllcy, who stationed
Olllcer Ilutton In that vicinity, in
hones that the bicyclist mlg'it return
and take the wheel. Mr. Ilutton re
mained until 0 o'clock, when he took
the wheel to the city hall. It is more
than probable that the wrongful pos
sessor of the wheel "studied a mouse"
and did not think it best to return
ror his wheel.
FOUND IN FOUTLANI),
The Royal Blue Field bicycle, No.
31,015, belonging to A. C. Hopr, which
