In doubt. The sound-money Demo
crats of Oregon, 5000 or more Id
strength, who supported McKinley
and saved the electoral vote of Or
egon being given for Bryan, have but
one request to make of tho adminis

by asking that T. J. Black, the pres

stanch supporter of McKinley during
the presidential campaign anl one
wielding great Influence among the
Democrats, who forsook party at the
call of principle, be retained, at least
for a time, in his otlicc.
On the other hand, the two prin
cipal Republican competitors for the
position. T. T. Geer and S. M. Yor,an
were both presidential electors, and
to mako a choice between the two
may have the effect of embarrassing
the delegation. It Is fully recognized
by Republicans that Mr. Gcer is en

In return for his unflinching fealty
to party and his effective work as a
campaigner.
