the picture and tells the following
story of Harry Foye, who kept his
pledge till death:
Though suffering excruciating pain
and was well aware that death was
close at hand, Harry Foye, tho fifteen-year-old
victim of a railroad accident,
rcmalmed steadfast to tho pledge ho
had made as a member of the Leagao
of tho Cross, not to tisto or handle
Intoxicating liquors, and this though
offered him by a physician, whoso
only thought was to lessen tho boy's
suffering. Foyo had been a member
of tho order ut St. Paul's church, close
to his homo In tho West Mission, for
about a year. On tho clay that ho
met with tho awful accident he had
gone out to look for work and cheer
fully told his mother that if ho did
not obtain the position which was
advertised, to bo sure to toll anyono
who might send for him that ho would
bo homo at 2 o'clock in tho afternoon,

him. Ho was an industrious lad and
overyono had a good word for him.

A reduction in the tariff on coal by
the Wilson bill was followed by a re
duction in tho vagcs amounting to
nearly as much per ton as the reduc
tion of the duty. That act cut down
the coal tariff 35 cents per ton, which

1893 in the reduction of wages. If 35
cents reduction in tariff" cuts down
wages 25 or 3D cents per ton, would

miners now that the MoKlnley tariff
