In the bouse, when a thirk-set man,
with a black mustache and slouch hat,
appeared at the door and asked if any
one else wa in. She replied that she
was alone. He immediately seized
her, putting hlj hand oyer her mouth
to prevent her screaming, and then
gagged her. He dragged her to the
woodshed, and, having tied her hands
behind her back, accomplished his
purpose. A neighbor's small boy
found her soon after unconscious.
There is no clew as to the identity
of her assailant, although it is
thought that he was one of the soldiers
atFortCanby. The victim says she
would easily recognize her assailant
if she should see him. Her father is
one of llwaco's leading citizens, and
feeling on the subject runs very high
in that town.
