room was had, and was there agree
ably, entertained by tho Hubbard,
band with many patriotic selections.

then declared to be the order, and
Capt. Grim and Lieut. Ruck, ot Co.
E., O. N. Guards wero called for, and
eaoh responded in a happy manner,
oxpresslm; their pleasure for the
honor shown them and tho national
guard which they represented. Com
rado O. H. Ryland was then called for
rcspoudod In an ablo, patriotic ad
dress, much appreciated by all.
Comrades Stoddard, Thomas, Bobn
Grim, Jordon nnd others, were In turn
called out and responded hi a manner
that plainly Indicated that each bad
a true G, A. R. heart beneath bis
vest, and that the days when thoy
'went for a soldlor," had not been
forgotten. Many other comrades were
called for, but expressed themselves
as "too full for utterance." An at
tempt was made to press the ladies
Into service but they "retreated iu
good order."
After a vote of thanks to the Hub
bard band, Women Relief Corps, and
all viio contributed In making the
occasion svwh n grand success, ono of
the most pleasant meetlugs over held

Mrs Isabel Nanny of Albany, died

Missouri. Was 70 years old. Left a
family of 9 children. Her husband

The Benton county court has ordered
a suit brought against ex-Sheriff Os

claimed, which is disputed.

died on New Year's day, of blood pois
oning, the result of a splinter in his

At a special meeting of tho city
council at the Dalles, an ordinance,
designed to Impose a 3300 license on
drug stores, was placed upon Its final
passage and lost, The recorder was
instructed to draw an ordinance
fixing the license at $150 for the re
tailing of liquor by drug stores.
