Mr. Short, of Ashland, a blacksmith,
and son-in-law of Senator Holt, died
Wednesday, of apendicitis. His
funeral took place Thursday.
He was a son-in-law of Senator S.
H. Holt, of Jackson county, and the
senator was detained from coming to
Salem until tonight.
