Sunday evening i.s the diurdi bel's were ringing out the hour of meeting, says the linker City Democrat, four masked men armed with shotguns and pistols, eutered Jack Walker's saloon, near the Union depot, and on cover ing the proprietor, and bartender, Dick Hamilton and two other men, being all present, shouted "hands upl" and up they went. The bartender was then escorted behind the bar and per request the till was opened and the contents, about 810, was seized by the captlan of the robber gang. Before departing one of the rob bers helped himself to a bottle of whiskey, thus evidencing by his con duct that he was not one of the few electors In this county who cast his vote for the "prohl" candidate at th recent elect Ion. The outlaws then took their leave, parsing out the front door aud upon riuehltiK the frontdoor beat a hasty retreat. Dick Hamilton lost 110 time In picking up a doubled barreled shot gun and gave them a couple of parting salutes. Whllo the shot fell short of their murk, they had the effect of quickening the steps of the fleeing fugitives. They made good their escape. Mr. Walker was seen by a Democrat reporter last evening, He stated that Judging from the actions of his unin vited guests they were novices, as every mother's son of thetu shook like an aspju leaf and their voices trem bled so badly that their words could hardly be understood with the excep tion of the cold command, "Hold up your hands!" which was too plainly audible. The robbers wore masks made out of dark cloth and they covered the whole head. The men were average size the tallest being about 5 feet 0 inches and the others about 5 feet 0 inches. A Wet Experience. Nick Galloway, Ed. Illodgett, Alex Purdom and Mr.Achenbach had a very chuck experience this forenoon, says Albany Democrat. They were ltf a boat on the other side of the river over the road at the Junction of the Peacock and bridge toads, making ar rangements to repair tho telephone line which haa broken, when the swift current drove the boat against a snag, and tho rower, Alex Purdom could not keep It upright so great was the forco of the current. Tho four men went Into about (ivo feet of vater, und man aged to strike on their feet after a struggle. The boat went down stream, and there they were In water up to their shoulders, fresh from the snow fields of the Cascade, with no way to get out. They used their lungs like a campaign orator, and Mr.Wm.Peacock got a boat and went to their rescue, getting them out after nearly an hour's waiting. None of them has ex perienced any trouble from the wet ting. The boat and entire repairing outfit were lost. The Raging Santtam. The O. C. & E. train was at Detroit when the heavy storm set In and Is there now and will be for several days. TheSantlam up that way raged as never before. At one or two points It -turned directly upon the track washing everything out In sight. Mr. John Butterworth, who walked nine. teen miles to get out, and arrived In Albany last night, says that trees that were there when Columbus dis covered America were uprooted and toppled over. The work of putting the road In condition between Green Basin and Detroit will bo a big task. Albany Democrat. Probably Drowned. Mr. August I'agenkoir, residing six miles west of Albany near Wells, was In Albany Monday and left for homo on foot in the afternoon, says tho Democrat. He never reached home, and It Is believed he was drowned. The indications are that he attempted to cross on a log over a slough and slipped In and was drowned. He had been drinking some.
