The Journal Wheelman Tells of Yayxuii and Folk. If you haven't tried a piece of nice fresh summor fallow road uptodnte, J tat ride Irom Dallas to Halt Creek. Ii Is not lovely. We passed over one place where a neighbor said be saw three, teams sluok once, with empty wagons, not more than a month ago. We've seen some better roads thau it Is now. It seems very strange to us that any supervisor would know so lit tie about road building as to plow up the center of the road and then expect It to be lit road in less than a year. There Is very little or no grade on this road except as you near Bait Creek. There you'll find a nice grade. We hope the supervisors will grade the ,road before we have to travel over any more summer fallow, or plowed roads. We have been told however that the merchants of Dallas and farmers along the above mentioned road have sub scribed a purse of $300 towards better ingthe condition of this road. Wo think it will be better for them to make good ab much as they work on and not try to make It all good unless they have sufllcieut means to do It well. A little bit of road well tnado is better than much road poorly made. Fruit growers in the vicinity of For rydale are spraying their trees at pres ent. They report no pests to speak of at present but think "an ounce of pre vention is worth a pound of cure." Representative Keyt, of Perrydule, had some fun at our expense. Ho didn't seem to know who Mr. Hofor was. Wo explained to him a little, but his ignorance for such a pleasant and nice looking gontloman with such a large pipe in his mouth didn't seem to us in keeping so we tried to get even before he quit poking fun at us. He cau tell you about it, We found fairly good roads from Perrydale to McCoy, Amity, Whltoson aud McMinnvllle. The poorest road wo had from Amity to McMinnvllle waB Just as wo entered the lost men tioned place. Wo trust the merchants will think it to their Interest suffi ciently to put some liner gravel on thU road aud hldo the boulders that "stio up" and torment whoelmen and makes them think of saying ugly things, Wo shall speak moro at longth of MoMluuvlIIe's wheelmen, trackw, stable, etc., in our next.
