have been looked for by the river men

steamboat men aro now happy over the
prospect of a noticeable raise of the river
which will permit the boats to carry

carrying for the past tbreo months and
at the same time make schedule time.
Trade on tho river, which has been
rather dull for tho past month, Is be
tinning to pick up. More potatoes and
itralti are being shipped, there being a
slight advance In the market. The po
tatoes aro shlppeo direct to Ban Fran
cisco, while the wheat Is unloaded at
the Portland Flouring Mills at Oregon
City.
