CORN A2?D DAIEY EX-HEFTS.
Encouraging Prospects for These
Features of tbe State Fair.
Organization and specialization
would make our state fair one of tbe
grandest agricultural exhibits in the
world. Oregon has tbe soli, tbe cli
mate, tbe products and tbe people. If
their energies, enterprise and public
spirit are once .aroused they will prove
inyincible on any proposition.
TMK BUPi-BISTESDENT
of the dairy department at tbe state,
fair is J. A. Yoakum, of Marebfleld.
He runs the Coos Bay Creamery Co.
and will come to Balem some time be
fore tbe fair and give bis entire time
and attention to making the dairy ex
hibit what It bos never been hereto
fore) a success.
John Luce, of Hlllaboro, Is tbe state
dairy commissioner. He will undoubt
edly co operate In making the dairy
exhibit a success.
SOME J-ETTKIIS.
A number of persons, seeing the
JoujtNAL articles on corn have written
us about helping the exhibit. Hon.
H. U. Holt, Medford, Jackson county,
lives' in the corn belt of Southern Ore
gon. He says: "I will cheerfully ren
der such assistance m I can to make a
special corn exhibit at the state fair.
The outlook for a corn crop In this
country Is good, fully as good as I have
ever seen here,"
J. Ii. Dlmlck, Hubbard, who has onu
of tho finest farms In this county, and
Is one of Oregon's model farmers,
writes: "I am glad to see tho efforts
put forth to diversify farming. The
more early varl.tlon of corn can be
successfully raised In this valley. Tbe
mora corn and bogs that we raise and
the less Importation of Chicago bams,
will be a long step towards driving
away hard times. This has been a bad
year for corn. Tho aciuion was cold
and backward, and the best that can
ha done the exhibit will not be m good
as average, I have some field corn
with stalks m largo as my wrist aiid
ten feet high."

COEEE0TING A MISTAKE.
Do you know the diflerence between
a mistake and a bluuder? When you
lay down a good umbrella and take up
a good one, that's a mistake, but vben
you lay aown a poor one and take up a
good one, that's a bluuder. So iu sup
plies, where ycu buy poorer groceries
than you want you make a rairftako;
when you get good goods and pay too
much for them you make a blunder.
But unless you get tbe best and the
cheapest, you make a blundering mis
take. Avoid poor goods and high
prices by buying at tbe Post Ollice gro
