ident Harrison took a special train
early this morning, on tbe Pennsyl
vania road, for New York, to partici
pate in tbe ceremonies of raising tbe
American flag on tbe steamers, City of
New York add City of Paris, hereto
fore under British colors. Snow and
ice promised to make tbe journey
rather uncomfortable.
New Yobk, Feb. 22. For tbe first
time in a generation the stars and
stripes today float over two Ocean Grey-
bounds, tbe peer of any craft afloat,

York and City of Purls, which have
been transferred from tbe British to tbe
American flag,

the state; making salaries of Judges of

passed by a unanimous vote. The bill
appropriates $25,000, which Is to be paid
to tbe state out of tbo proceeds of the
sale of lands. The bill does not locate
tbe proposed borne. Another bill was
passed which amends tbe election law
so as to permit blind add Illiterate per
sons to vote. This bill also extends tbe
time of registration to Saturday before
the election.

dent was due to slippery condition of

the president's train was behind the
express and was delayed half an hour,
Fort Wayne, Ind., Feb. 22. This
afternoon an east bound passenger
train on Fort Wayne road was wrecked
by a broken rail near Columbia City.
It Is understood five were killed, at
least 15 injured, and some fatally.
