port it appears that tho spring and
winter wheat crops will not full
short of 72,000,000 bushels. On an
acreage of 4, 000,000 acres, this yield
amounts to about 18) bushels per
aero and is worth,at68 cents a bushel.

Department of Agriculture. It also

food and seed, our farmers bad 40,

bian festivities, and the visitors are
leaving by the thousands. In toot

week. Tonight the praises of Co
lumbus and of America, of Spain,
of Englaud and of Italy will be
sung. It is at Lennox Lyceum, on
Madison avenue and Fifty-ninth
street that the great banquet is to
take place. The invitations sent oat
to all the representatives of foreign
countries, to the ex-presidenta and
to the governors of all the states,
bave been rather sparsiey accepted.
