in Piltbhurg took place this morn
ing at 12:30, at dock street. The
second section of the Western ex
press ran Into the first section, com
pletely telescoping two care. Among
the killed are Ilichard Adams and
wife, and a fuibiiure man of this
city. Five dead bodies were taken
to the morgue at the Pennsylvania
.railroad depot. The number or In-

not expecting to return until night

last evening, and Mrs. Giitner soon

Several Hundred People Have a
Narrow Escape.

hundred residents of Argyle park
had a narrow escape from asphyxia
tion at midnight Thursday night.
During the height of the storm
the gas flowing through the mains
suddenly stopped. Lights that had
beeu left burning In bedrooms went
nut. A few minutes afterwards the
gas came on In n full head aud flow
ed through the open jets, in a
uumber of tho houses the people
had retired for the ulght, and only
prompt action by the police and
citizens succeeded in saving them.
A patrol wagon was called, and the
police put in the rest of tho night

Silver Plume, Colo., says the water
in Clear creek, a inouutniti stream

took a sudden rise this morning,

force, covering everything in its
way. Five mines, the Dandenburg,

preliminary examination of A. H.
Hindi, for killing Wickman, was

against Hindi, whoso plea will be
self defense. SVickman was a Nor
wegian, nnd his countrymen, who
