Facts Wanted. Republicans
should reflect that if Mr. Pratt's let
ter to The JouitNAii is true, he
should appear before the graud jury
next week and furnish the facts
which ho claims to have Knowledge
of and indict the administration of
Countv Clerk Babcock. He would
proye a public benefactor, but no
one believes lie has any facts. JSlr,
Pratt insinuates the same charges of
corruption that have been employed
against a Republican administration
of the clerk's ofllce by the Wood
burn paper, whose editor said if he
could only have access to the records
he could prove corruption. He has
had nine months of access, but has
made no case. Mr. Pratt should
furnish him facts.

A HAPPY FAMILY.
Why a Young Indian Was Carried
Along by tho Party.
A party of Grande Ronde Indians
are camped at Salem, tho women
weave and sell baskets, the head of
the family watches the lire.
A reporter accosted the high
cheeked son of the forest, seated
amid his group, aud the following
laconic interview transpired.
"Who is this?"
"My wife."
"Who's this?"
"My mother-in-law.
"And this?"
"The boy read sign boards."
A dusky young buck hud been
taken along for his litertry know
ledge. He looked as important as
a graduate from Yale College, the
happy poes.-ion of the alphabet,
affording him meals, tanusportutiou,
and tiie highest consideration.
"And who is this,?" asked the
visitor locator, pointing to a dusky
maiden at his lordship's right.
"My squaw."
And not another word could be
got out of the happy family.
A Hard Case. Gerard Tuck, a
wood chopper was fined for drunk
euess this morning. He spends a
good share of his time in jail when
at Salem haviug paid a lino a few
days since. Yesterday he made a
disgusting sight of himself all over
North Salem, a crowd of children
following him and hearing his ob
scene and profane language. It
took three policemen to land him iu
the city jail last night and he was
handled in a vigorous manner he
will not soon forget.

The old idea was that facta! eruptions wete

ot decreasing, actually creates moro erup
tions. You hare noticed this when taking
other Barsaparlllas. It Is however now known
lhat tho stomach, tho blood creating power,
is the.scat ot all vitiating or cleansing oper

constipation, vitiates tho blood, result pim
