The concert given by the Phil
harmonic In tho University chapel
on Wednesday evening, was well
attended and was a decided ducccri.
The first to attract the attention of
tho audience was n piano duet, by
Miss Mabel Adair and Mr. Homer
Krusc, which wns well executed,
and the delicate toucii and noft ex
pressions turned the whole chapel
Into a melody of sweet tones. Prof.
Parvln next turned his buck to the
audience, in a dignified manner and
with his baton In Ills hand, con
ducted a grand chorus of forty
voices, in the hallelujah chorus Irom
tho Messiah, as though they were
one voice. "I am an American,"
by tho Jubilee Quartette, was well
received. Miss Edith Harris, as
Columbia, In "Old Folkout Home,"
and ''American Hymn," acquitted
herself well. "Tho Song Kor Me,"
by Miss Edna Adams, representing
iiritaniiia, was heartily encored.
"Honnlo .Dundee," by Mrs. Minnie
Smith, representing u Bcotch lass,
was sung in a charming maimer.
"Deur old Songs of home," by Miss
Manda Comlm, representing a li-
py young girl of Germany, whh all
that could be asked, and was warm
ly applauded. Miss Mary Shafer as
u daughter of Ireland, sung the
familiar song "Klllarney," in
touching tones and a pleasant style.

of the musical part. Their comic
songs, In which Mr. (Jinn represeul

ii real Yankee, dressed in stars and
Htilpcs, Mr. Steoves a happy Irish
man with "plenty" of clothes, one
shoe, one boot and a hat not Intend
ed to turn ruin, and Mr. Icgg, a

and sueur-kraut." They acted out
their parts to perfection, and their
third appearance was required, be
fore tlio audience would allow them
to go. Tho program was concluded
with a grand finale In tho anvil
chorus from Vvrdl. The exercise on
tho whole, was tim best ever given

good deal, for some of the best and
