A I'liysirinn's Ohject Lesson.
A doctor, prescribing for a baby,
was sadly vexed by the otllclousues
of the child's feminine relatives,
who tried all sorts of homo remedies
for it, saying in apolegy:
"Wo thought If tltey did no good,
they would do mio harm, doctor."
At the end of hii patience, tho
doctor one morning called for a
bowl, a spoon and some fresh butter,
and began stirring tho latter round
and round, with an air of grave im
portance. Tho ladies gathered about
him inquisitively, but lie gave them
no attention, until at last, curiosity
becoming rampant, they cried in
cherus:
"Oh, doctor, do tell tw what you
arc golug tod o whilt tho buttcrV"
Hero was Ills chance. Facing
thorn solemnly, ho said:
"I am going to grease the baby's
elbow with it. It may not do any
good, but it won't do any harm!"

me," replied Johnny. "All of paw's

fire, and maw can't make any of
