Tho tug Immediately went to her assist ance anil would undoubtedly have pulled her oil without troublo or damage, had it not been that tho powerful six-Inch hawsers continu ally broke, and w ithin one hour af ter striking she had worked fully fifteen feet on the sands. Tho tug worked with the stranded vessel nil night, but without avail. Tho con stant beating of the waves and wind stovo two holes in her bottom and turned the ship about, bow in, and sho lies at nearly right angles with tho end of the jetty, Tho latest reports say tho steamer is in a position to bo well protected from breakers. She may bo gotten off with nut Httlo damage. Tho cargo has all been lauded on the jetty, and efforts are being made to get tho vessel oil.
