A Unnrrcl Over Canls-Hc Kills His
Wife ami llrothcr.
LoOisvilli:, Juno 23. Won!
rtMt'hetl hero this afternoon from
DarlnJ-, Ky., tlmt on Saturday
Marion Stewart shot and killed his
wife and his brother at their home
near that place. Marion and .lohn
Stewart, Tip Osborne and Jell Hall
were playing cards, when a dispute
arose over some point in the game.
All had been drinking and blows
passed. Marlon then drew a navy
revolver and shot John through the
brain. He turned to shoot Osborne,
who is. his stepson. Osborne ran,
followed by Stewart. Mrs. Stewart
interfered and got a bullet in the
temple. Osborne by this time had
escaped and Stewart turned his
attention to Hall. Hall got away,
but came back half an hour later,
when Stewart ny.iin tried to kill
him, but Hall again escaped. Seeing
his wife lying dead outside the door
and hU brother in a dying condition
inside, Stewart turned to his eldest
daughter, 14 years old, and said,
"Good byo; do the best you can
for the children," and started up
tho mountain side. The children
carried their dead mother into the
house where the father's brother
was dying. Mrs. Stewart leaves
seven children, the oldest fourteen
years of ago and tho youngest a babe
nursing. John Stewart leaves a wife
and small family. Xo attempt has
been made to arrest the fugitives,
although Tip Osborne- has sworn
vengeance against Stewart for kill
ing his mother.

the news of a serious Indian light.
About two weeks ago a party of

of Chllcat Indians Interfered and
