Xot the Water fompiny's Fault.
There now seems no doubt that
the writer was misinformed yester
day regarding the reason no water
was gotten from the hydrant at the
agricultural works flre. The raritcr
as told, and he supposed the in
formation to be reliable, that there
was no pressure in the mains when
the fire broke out, but ho since
learns from Owen Hutton, who
coupled the first lino of hose nt the
hydrant that while this was the
ease, the cause was the power wheel
that give power to the water works
as burned down, before the lino of
hose was laid. Also that no blame
can attach to tho water company.
Regarding the statement that tho
prture is lowered at night while
this statement came from an pfllcial
f the water company, it is denied
by the superintendent, and engineer,
who say that tho pressure is never
kwi-rcd to less than forty or lifty

Tmuls Clnb Organized.
The young people of thisxity have
been casting about for tome amuse
ment which they can enjoy during
the summer months, and have at
last settled on lawn tennis, the pop
tilar English outdoor sport, and met
recently at the residence of Mr.
Eugene Breynian, nnd organized a
club. Miss Jlaggio Cosper was
elected president, Mr. P. II. D' Arcy,
vice-president, Miss Nellie Boise,
secretary, and Mr. H. J. Thompson,
treasurer. At an adjourned meet
ing held last night, it was decided
to call the club "The Marion," and
to establish the courts in Marion
square. This is a very popular game
in England, and in fact wherever it
is played, and much pleasure will be
the lot of the club, no doubt. It is
said lawn tennis is what keeps tho
English girl so healthy, and active,
by keeping her in the open air so
much, and by giving her such ex
cellent exercise. .
