Samuel and Cornelius Wallers, wero murdered at a road house near here Sunday night by womn named Berth Williams. The brothers were sitting qu"etly in an uppor room, when Samuel was called out to settle a dispute between several persons. As Walters stepped out he was seized by the throat and thrown to tho ground. While prostrated the Williams woman shot him through the head. Cornelius heard the shooting and ran to his brother's assistance. As ho was bending over him the murderers pressed the muttte of a revolver to his back and fired, tho ball penetrating his spine, producing death in a tew hours. No cause is known for the assassination. A Political Prophocy. San Francisco, June 5. The Oak. land, Cil., Tribune to-night says: The Oregon election Is tho most Important political event that has come about this year, All the wires were laid for a big hurrah, could the state have been carried by the democracy. But the present situation is complicated by the president's free trade policy, and tho defeat of his party in Oregon is the first serious rebuke to the adherents of that policy. It is rumored that another plot against tho life of the czar has been discovered. In Pittsburg the iron and steel workers have decided to refuse a redaction of wages, and the owners threaten to close their mills. An extensive strike is im minent.
