The Two Jordan Roys Burn Their Way Out of the I'olk County Jail. Special to tho Cavital Jouunau Dallas (Or.), Mnrch 16th. This morning when Shuriil' Groves open etl the county jail to feed the prisoners he found that the two Jordan boys, who were arrested in Salem during January, for stealing two horses belonging to Thomas Jones, of Polk county, had made their escape during the night. They had built a fire on the iloor of the cell in which they were confined, burning a hole through it largo enough to admit the passage of their bodies, when they dropped through to the furnace room below and struck tint for liberty. At 1 :!50 p. in. to-day their whereabouts aro un known. Bennewitz, who was con fined in an adjoining cell was asleep at the time of their escape and made no efl'ort to join them. This is the second time the Jordan boys have succeeded in breaking from tho Polk county jail. They Want ltcclproeity. Ottawa (Can.), Mar. 16. What promises to be the principnl debate of this session of the Canadian house of commons begun yesterday, by Sir Itichard Cartwright moving the adoption of his resolution in favor of unrestricted reciprocity between the United States and Canada. Now York, Mar. 15 Tho food sup ply is running very short in New Jersey towns. There is but little fresh meat. No milk, eggs, or veg etables can be obtained at any price.
