BRUSSELS, April 11. The sitting of
the Chamber of Deputies today was
characterized by violent scenes. , At
the dose of the sitting the Socialist
deputie stormed the President's tri
bunal.' The ushers were summoned to
preserve order, antl a violent scene en
sued, in which blows were exchanged.
During the evening there were several
outbreaks in the city.f The police
charged the rioters, and about twenty
five persons were wounded. I

between strikers and gendarmes oc
curred this morning at Rracquegniea,
near Charleroi. Several thousand
strikers attacKd and stoned a body
of gendarmes, who retaliated by fir
ing their revolvers). A sharp fusilada
followed, and the gendarmes were com
pelled to retreat, A squadron of lan
cers, however, galloped up and. dis
persed 'the mob. ;
, A semblance of order was restored
among the rioters in the Rue Steven
early this morning. . The polk, wha

Estimates of the number wounded
during theriots vary from 40 to 100,

claimed that meetings of more thsn
ten persons are" prohibited, and that
persons carrying revolvers shall be Ha-
