the trio remained in Salem, and had
little taste for military life. When,
however, the tocsin of war was sound

his strong arm. he volunteered for

campaign, with honor to himself and

In Manila the three friend 1 met
two serving in the Oregon regiment

named after their state. They enjoved
each others company- to the fullest
