Nyssa Gafe City Jeurea/ - Nyssa, Oregon Thursday, December 29,1977 Emblem Club Ontario hospital and that Sara Mendiguren was ill. The date of January 23, 1978 has been set for the Past President’s party. This party is held each year to honor all Past Presidents of Emblem #192. Another date to remember is February II, which is the day of the Sweetheart’s Day and Sweetheart’s Ball. Chair person's of this event will be Diana Ingalls, Irma Coleman and Arlene Uhlman. Ontario Emblem Club #192 met December 5. 1977 for their business meeting, which was called to order by President Mary Danielson. The roll call of officers and the Financial and Treasurer’s reports were given. Further businesses was transported for the initiation rites carried out by Past President Mary Jenson. The new members initiated were Irene Haley and Helen Kingheimer. Committee reports were given. This is just a few of the children in Mrs. Kimi Casad's class who were Santa's little elves. Each first grade class had r a part and __‘ each child had their place. The children put on the play for their parents Wednesday, December 21 and then put the play on at the Nyssa Nursing Home Friday. December 23. In the Second Act, Santa visited the other planets and in the Third Act the Universal Court met. During the Third Act (which is pictured above) the Universal Court decided Santa " could visit all the planets. 120 Nyssa elementary students were involved while the 6th grade choir directed by Gary Welch sang 13 songs. Around 80 parents attended the cast when the students performed their play for the primary students. December 22 and the elementary students, December 23. Extension Ladies Christmas Is Nice To Meet Jan. 5 Christmas is a fun time of the year. With sleigh bells and snow bells and presents. With snowy hills and valleys. Sliding down slopes, and having fun. Snow falling, snow blowing Snow coming, snow going. Ice Skating on ice is cold but nice. The Thundcregg Hens’ Home Extension Group will meet January 5 at the home of Donna Blackbum at 1:30 p.m. The lesson, "Liven Up Your Mealtimes." will be given by Ellen Brittingham. All ladies interested in becoming a regular member or just a visitor are cordially invited to attend. Jack Frost is here making it cold. He makes it snow, and blow and then he goes away. Christmas has past but it will come again soon. Just wait. Bv Debbie Voecting. Debbie is a 6th grade student at Adrian and is in Mr. James Phelps class. She wrote this poem for classroom assignment. By Lya Doirner Some of the Fruitland children will remember five years back, when Pete Alves came to school dressed as a Dutch Sinterklaas and, with a Dutch exchange student, dressed as a "helper” showed the fourth grade class what a Dutch Christmas was like. He sat at a table and, out of a big book, talked with the different students on the good and bad things they had done. They did not know the teacher had told him what to write about each in the book! Visiting the Pete Alves farm over the holidays is Jan Keulen. a student at Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo. Jan. an all-American boy, born of Holland Dutch-American pa rents. hates California and loves Idaho, and doubtless will, someday, live here. At the Ben Payne home. Christmas was celebrated with a large dinner. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Newell, Kenny Newell, and Mrs. Stella Newell all of Nampa. Francis Cammann took Mrs. Vesta Wilson with him when he went to Portland to spend Christmas with his son and family. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Cammann. Vesta went on with her son Delbert, for Christmas with him and his family at Molalla. i Mrs. Cecil Evans said their Christmas lasts the whole of December Sunday they had vhristmas dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Russell. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ballard were there too. This past Tuesday there was a big family dinner at the Evans’ with four of their children and their families home. There were the Ralph Cairnes family of Hermiston, the Terry Stigiles of Hazel ton. and the Russells and Larry Zieglers of Nu Acres. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shaw Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shaw Jr. and baby Dorothy Lynn went to Emmett Christ mas with Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bogle, Phyllis Shaws parents. Mrs. Armine Hartman and son Jim were guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Steel of Roswell for Christmas dinner Saturday guests in the Hartman home were Mr. and Mrs. Lyn Woodland of Wilder. A Christmas eve dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale McDaniel of Parma, and Mr. and Mrs. Harley Sager were honored guests, being parents of Mrs. McDaniel. On Christmas Day, the Harley Sagers drove to Boise for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ernce. Mrs. Effie Nielsen had Christmas with her eldest son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elver Nielsen of Sunset Valley. Present were Elvers two sons, and their families. Effie said she had a phone call from her grandson, Tom of Aurora, and learned that the Delbert Wilson family and his mother, Vesta, visited them on Christmas eve. It was Christmas at home for the Darrell Sutton family, and Skyia's unde, Keith Armstrong, of Boise, joined them for the celebration. We had a Christmas eve party at the Dohners. and were joined by the Dave Weavers, Gary Fischers and Debbie and Pam Sheffield. The adults and teens mostly watched the Noah’s ark story on television while the younger ones played games. Christmas night at Chris tian Life Fellowship, Pastor Jack Becker read the Christ mas story from the Bible and later refreshments were ser ved. HAPPY NEW YEAR! cake!
