This week while gathering news for the column, 1 asked for your opinion on the Panama Canal Treaty. Although this was but a small sampling of the folks in Apple Valley, it shows that we are concerned with things which affect our country. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Earl Boston and Johnny visited in the Bob Shippy home in Weiser. Mrs. Brenda Fittsimons from Boise was at her parents Mr. and Mrs. David Bay on Sunday. . Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fergu son are in Portland this week where Mrs. Ferguson is in the hospital. She is improv ing but does not know how long she will be hospitalized. Mr. Ferguson is staying at the home of their daughter Mrs. Fred (Evelyn) Krebs while in Portland. Mrs. Nell Correll's son Gordon and his wife from Marysville, Washington, have been visiting with her the last two weeks. They all visited with Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Whittom in Boise one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. James Correll from Bremerton, Wa shington spent a week with his mother earlier in the month. Mrs. Leona Potts spent some time Thursday with Mrs. lloyd Dibble. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Tuning had a lovely time Thursday and Friday in the mountains near Lowman. On Wednesday afternoon Mrs. Tuning attended the Women’s Association meet ing in the Roswell Pres byterian Church. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Seward for a Sunday birthday dinner honoring Gary Seward were Mr and Mrs. Hugh Pierce, Kimber- lee and Kent from Boise, Mrs. Shirlee Smith of Ontario Mr. and Mrs Gary Seward from Nyssa, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Downs, Larry and Jackie of Nampa. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Rathbun left Thursday for their home in California, planning to stop at Yosemite on the way. They had been visiting relatives in the area for the last two weeks. Kenny Seward was in the hospital last week for further skin grafts. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Seward visited him on Saturday evening. Mrs. Zora Edens’ daugh ter, Mrs. Ima Jean Carpen ter and granddaughter Phyl lis have been spending a few days with her before leaving for Hawaii to join Mr. Carpenter in their new home. Former Apple Valley resi dents Mr. and Mrs. Ruben 4 4 Hensaw of Meridian and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Hensaw of Caldwell called on Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Smalley on Sunday afternoon. On Monday afternoon Mrs. Elmer Smith and Mrs. Laura Bale visited Mrs. Jim Bale in Caldwell. Mrs. Laura Bale was a luncheon guest of Mrs. Mary Honey on Thursday. Mrs. Mabel Foz, Mrs. Mary Honey, and Mrs. Laura Bale attended the Daudt- Olrver wedding at the Church of the Nazarene in Nyssa on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Darlene Adams of Payette and Mrs. laura Bale were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Bale for Chuck’s birthday dinner on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon Mrs. Ruth Martin of Nampa visited with her mother. Mrs. Bale. Steve Lindsay, nephew of Mrs. James Seif, his wife and family have moved to Parma from Hauser Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Arie Bakker returned from a trip last week. They went by way of Ogden. Utah, into Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park in Utah. They visited the north and south rim of the Grand Canyon, went on to Engagement Announced ROBERTA LYNNE FRANZ and Brad Johnson of Boise have announced their engagement. The bride elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Franz. 5890 Gray Lane, Boise. She is a graduate of Capital High School and is employed by First Security Bank Her fiance, son of Mr. and Mrs. Plais Johnson. Parma, is a 1974 graduate of Parma High School and completed a parts counterman program at Boise State University in 1976. He is now employed by Nordling’s in Boise. He is the grandson of Mrs. Blanche Weeks of Nyssa. The wedding is planned for December 30. Hoover dam and Las Vegas From there home again. They said the weather was wonder ful and they enjoyed the trip very much. Mrs. Arie Bakker helped with another successful chrys- anthemufn show, held last weekend at the West Park Plaza mall. Mrs. Clarence Hart spent a few days in the hospital last week. Angie and Julie, the Hart daughters, visited their grandparents, Klass and Betsy Hart, while their mother was away. Mrs. Mike Williams and baby daughter visited with her family the Ko Abe family a week ago. She returned to her home in Portland, the last part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Zittercob from Desert Hot Springs, California are spend ing some time in this area, hunting birds and visiting relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Bullard and Mrs. Lillian Zittercob.
