Legion Tourney Play
Swimmers Finish Second,
Begins Sat. in Ontario
Matthews Wins Six
The regular season is over
and tournament play begins
Saturday for the Nyssa
American Legion team. Their
final game, which was to be
Monday with Ontario was
canceled.
The four teams in the
competition are Nyssa. Vale.
Ontario and Bend. Nyssa
finished with a 4-18 record.
Ontario 14-18 and Vale 15-13.
Ontario and Bend begin
the tourney at 1 p.m
Saturday, at Elks Memorial
Field in Ontario. Nyssa and
Vale meet at 4:30 p.m The
losers meet each other at 8
p.m. that night and the loser
of that is eliminated At 1
p.m. Sunday the two winners
meet. The »inner goes oa to
the Area tournament as the
District's No. 1 team. Sun­
day's loser plays Saturday's
firsts for 13 and 14 year olds.
He won the 50 and 100 yard
freestyle» and the 100 yard
breaststroke.
In the oldest age group.
15-18, Lori Lane won the 200
yard IM and the 100 yard
breaststroke. Megan Jackson
one of the team's coaches,
swam to victory in the 50-100
yard free style.
Nyssa's final win came in
the 50 yard freestyle for boys
in the oldest age group. Mike
Wahlert won that in the good
time of 27.8 seconds.
On July 31 and August 1,
Nyssa is going to Payette to
swim in the Idaho “B" State
championships. Thoae who
qualify for the State "A"
champa will go on to Black­
foot the nest week.

ago. Nyssa lost 11-1.
Vale scored eight unearned
runs in the first inning. Three
Nyssa errors brought that
about.
Nyssa's lone run came in
the bottom of the first on a
double by Jay Kygar which
scored Scott Orris.

at a cheerleader camp in Logan. Utah, where they learned
new cheers and competed with other cheerleaders. They are

THE WORK contemplated
consists of construction of

8-inch sewers, a package
type sewage lift station, a
river crossing approximately
800 feet long, and approxi­
mately 4.900 feet of 4-inch
pressure sewer, lagoon type
treatment facilities and ap­
purtenances.
