It is just right for those fields which for merly limited to solid-set. side-roll, hose drag, or volume gun type irrigation. The unit features computer calculated sprinklers for pre cise water distribution, has a total length of 272 feet with 9 foot crop clearance, and is water-hydraulic propelled. Little Fielder reduces the number of sets for a field so hand labor is drastically reduced. For more informa tion contact the County Extension Office in Ontario. a a a With perennials, experi ence and research tells us that most weeds should be in the bud stage for best results. The weed killers that are effective and the higher rates required often mean that the treatment is non- selective --it kills both crop and weed. This can be tolerated for usually pcreni- als occur in small patches in the fields or along ditches and fence rows. One of the very flood perennial weed killers now available • a relative new corner • is Roundup, It is effective on a variety of hard-to-kill weeds like Can ada thistle, whitetop. quack grass and morning glory. It also kills other vegetation to which it is applied. In other words it has no selectivity such as 2.4-D which gets the broad-leaved plants but doesn't hurt the grass. It is expensive to buy but when the cost of perennial weed patches is considered along with the fact that perennials continue to spread and render the land useless for crop production, the com is not prohibitive. A nice feature of this new chemical weed killer is that it docs not stick around in the soil to kill subsequent crops. It's a bright spot on the perennial weed control picture. Be sure you read the label carefully and follow the directions if you plan to try some oil vour favorite perennial weed patch, however SEE US FOR— PAINTING, BODY WORK AND WINDSHIELD GLASS INSTALLATION FREE ESTIMATES RAY S BODY & PAINT SHOP Phone 372-3524 505 Mam St. Nyssa Real Estate For Sale & Associates, Inc.
