Local Organists Win
In Organ Festival
Twenty-one locsd organists
of all ages participated in the
SRV Yamaha Electone Organ
Festival at Treasure Valley
Community College recently.
The Festival, emceed by Mr.
Eric McKaig of KSRV. drew
organists from this area as
weU as Burns, Oregon. Since
there were four divisions,
four winners were selected
by the panel of judges.
Judges for the evening were

Miss Debbie Culbertson,
Hood River, Oregon; Mr.
Leon Graviett of Emmett;

for their appearance at the
Regional Festival Finals,
covering the states of
Washington. Oregon, Idaho,
Montana, Wyoming. Colo­
rado. New Mexico, Arizona.
Utah, Nevada. California and
Hawaii. Winners there will
go on to the National finals
which will take place in
Chicago the last week in
June. Frontier Music of
Ontario was the local sponsor
in the SRV Festival. Mr.
Lehmkuhi announced that
local organists should begin
plans for next year's festival.
Prizes will include trips to the
Regional, National and fi­
nally International Festival in
Japan as well as scholarships

Nyssa Girl Earns
Ricks Honors
Ricks College has issued
its Honor Roll for the spring
semester—857 students who
received 3.5 grade point
average or above for the
semester, taking at least 14
hours of class work.
Enrollment this spring was
5,321. There were 1,048
graduates in April.
Honor Students include
Marlene Widmer of Nyssa,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Vernon Widmer. Nyssa.

May 9, at the Bassett Legion
dub in Ainsworth, Nebraska
when the SOth wedding
anniversaries of Mr. and
Mrs. Lynn Shaul of Nebraska
and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur
Chapin of Nyssa were ob-
served.
Floyd Shaul, son of the
Lynn Shauls, greeted the
guests. Mrs. Simon Pancake
presided at the guest book
registering over 200 guests.
The honored couples were
seated at old-fashioned set­
tees and tables centered with
blue and gold floral arrange­
ments. Three tiered cande-
labras and a white cake
decorated in gold adorned
the reception table. Lunch
was served by relatives of the
couples.
Corsages were presented
to the Shauls by their
grandsons and to the Chapins
by their children.

A Student Music Recital

Room of the Tech-Lab Bull

Those performing have
been studying voice with

ris. soprano. Alice Roberts.
mezzo-soprano; Dan Gteif.
tenor; and Ken Eden, bass
baritone.
Art songs in Italian,
German. Spanish, and Eng­
lish will be presented along
with concert arrangements of
folk songs and selections
from the musical theater.
Agnes Zueger, piano stu­
dent of Bo Schmid, will also
perform works of Bach and
Mozart on the program
The public is invited and
there is no admission charge.
