LEGION AUXILIARY
Engagement Announced
THE ENGAGEMENT OF JANET MARIE DALL to Gene
Watson of Nampa has been announced by her parents. Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Dail of Nyssa. Her fiance is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Watson of Cambridge. Idaho.
Miss Dail was graduated from Nyssa High School in 1974.
She attended Montana Institute of the Bible and is presently
employed at Kuna. Idaho. The groom-elect, a 1974 graduate
of Cambridge High School is employed as a plumbers
apprentice for Lee's Plumbing in Nampa.
A June 26 wedding date is planned by the couple.
GRANGE
Members of Oregon Trail
Grange met in regular
session Thursday evening.
May 6. for a brief meeting.
Grange was closed at 9
p.m. and Master Harold
Kurtz introduced Circuit Ju­
dge Jeff Dorroh and District
Attorney Frank Yraguen.
Each were alloted ten mi­
nutes of time to present their
qualifications and the require,
ments of the position of
Circuit Judge. A question
and answer period followed
and both responded ge­
nerously.
Master Kurtz expressed
the appreciation of the
Grange members for their
visit. Other visitors were
Mrs. Dorroh. Attorney Steve
Fonda. Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Jayo. Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Dail. Mrs. Glenn Teague and
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Avery.
Refreshments were served
to 35 members and guests by
Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ballou
and Mrs. Frank Holub.
The next regular meeting
will be held Thursday eve­
ning. May 20 at 8:30 p.m.
Chaplain Orma Cleaver will
be in charge of the Memorial
Program and she urges all
members to be present.

During the program a quilt
made by Clara Price was on
display. Instruction* were
given for an easy method of
applique.
Dessert was served by the
co-hostess Violet Dry dale.
The next regular meeting will
be held Tuesday. June 1, at
the home of Jane Ballou with
Iva Adams as co-hoste*s.
Mrs. Ballou will give a
demonstration and instruc­
tion on the art of tatting.
All Grange women are
urged to attend.

Chosen Queen
Barbie Bowers, age 15,
won the Old Fort Boise queen
contest held last Saturday in
Parma. Her sister, Brenda,
was queen for the celebration
last year.
Barbie is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Don Bowers,
former Nyssa residents.
The Past Presidents of the
Legion Auxiliary enjoyed
luncheon at the Charoláis
Restaurant Monday. May 10
with ten members present.
The business meeting was
held in the Lions Park.
Officers were elected as
follows: Mrs. Otis Smith,
president; and Mrs. Louise
Heldt, secretary-treasurer.
Members sent 178 flowers
for the Wheel Chair Parade,
which will be held in Portland
in June.
This will be the last
meeting until next fall.
Recital Slated
The annual student recital,
sponsored by Snake River
Music Teachers will be held
Saturday. May 15 at the
Ontario LDS Church at 7:30
p.m.
The public is invited.

Mothers Honored
At Tea Party
A Mother's Day tea was
hosted by member* of the
Malheur Memorial Hospital
last Friday for mothers in the
nursing home.
The women were lovely in
their pretty dresses and
attractive hair style*. Each
mother was presented a
corsage.
Kathy Anderson, a hospi­
tal aid from Wilder, sang two
selection* and accompanied
herself on the piano.
Cake and punch was
served to the mothers and
their guests.

among the nursing home residents attending the Mother's
Day tea at the nursing home last Friday.
FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
Friendship Circle held its
Mother's Dav luncheon May
7 at the IOOF Hall. The
tables were set with indivi-
daul potted plants, which
were started from a plant
belonging to Angie Cook.
There were twenty-three
members and twelve guests
present. The club furnished
the turkey and the balance of
the dinner was pot luck.
Following the dinner a short
business meeting was held
and during roll call each
member introduced her guest
There were seven tables of
Bunco in play with Ida
Walters, high; Merle John­
son traveling; and Wilma
Ostrom, low. Each received a
lovely blooming geranium
plant.
The hostesses, Erma Spa­
rks. May Bretz and Hazel
Seawnght furnished all the
individual plants and had
taken time to start them. The
nett meeting will be the first
Friday in June with the place
to be announced.
