Horseshoe Leagues To
Continue Weekly Play
Entering into the third
week of the Second Annual
City Horseshoe Tournament
the contestants have sealed
down to a steady pace.
League A games found
Mathews still on top with Bob
Wilson, last year's Champ,
still biding his time in second
place.
Red McCrady put on a
burst of speed to split a
double header with Wilson,
then dump Father Simard
two straight games and finish
on a split with Mike
Mathews.
Ray Norland climbed to
fourth place by giving Neil
Mathews his second defeat of
the season in a two game
split, then Norland trounced
new-comer Ray Sager two
straight games and won two
more from Ralph Werner.
Wilson split a series with
the on-coming McCrady then
lost 2 games to Mathews, but
finished the evening strongly
by defeating Simard four
straight games in series and
make-up play.
Also a newcomer, Mike
Mathews climbed from last
week’s cellar to sixth place by
defeating another newcomer
Ray Sager two straight
games. Mike then moved
above Ralph Werner with two
games and split a series with
third ranked McCrady.
In League A both Werner
and Sager suffered losing
streaks as has Jim Monroe
but they can console them
selves that they are new
comers in very tough compe
tition.
Bowler Rolls
High Series
Fete VanderOord bowled a
606 series with a high game
of 256 in the Youth-
Adult league at the Sugar
Bowl last week.
Manager Bill Purcell said
that this was a remarkable
performance for a bowler
nearly 70 years of age. Pete
has been an avid bowler for
many years.
