Portland district, consisting of over 70
dealers. Owner Les Burbank is shown with
the placque.

An Individualized Instruc­
tion Workshop for teachers
will be given by the Science
Department at TVCC dunng
the week of June 16 • July 3.
Its purpose is tv assist
instructors (on both elemen­
tary and secondary levels) in
developing individualized
units of work in their own
teaching areas.
Fifteen learning packets
will be utilized as aids in
facilitating program organi­
zation. These will deal with
such areas as student place
ment, motivation programs,
testing techniques, writing
packages, and program eva­
luation.
Teachers will make in­
structional units designed to
express specific interests and
classroom needs. These units
will be based to a large extent
on film presentation and
willnecessitate learning to
operate both the J5mm and
super 8 cameras as well as
learning to develop both color
and black and white film
Equipment will be furnished
by the College.
This is the third summer
the Workshop has been
presented. In the two pre
vious summers approxi­
mately seventy-five teachers
have received this type of
training and have gone on to
utilize these techniques in
their own school systems.
According to Wallace John
son. Department Chairman,
the Workshop has also been
the catalyst for launching
materials development cen­
ters in some of the local
schools where photo equip
ment has been purchased
One area they are developing
is career education Johnson
says that field trips used to
be utilized in exposing
students to • variety of
careers but these trips are
becoming more and more
difficult to make ‘ With a
knowledge of camera techni­
ques the teacher can take the
trip and bring it to class on
film Successful "Flint trips
have been made by local
teachers in areas such as
trucking and baking I here is
trails no limit to the trips that
can be taken in this way.

be taken for one to three
hours of undergraduate or
graduate credit Cost lor I
credit hour is $4.50: 2 hours.
$14.00; and 3 hours. $24.00
The course is free to all
participants on a non credit
basis.
Classes will be divided into
two sections, one meeting
from 4 a m to 12 a m.; and
the other from L00 p m to
4:00 p m. daily. Enrollment
is limited to 15 persons per
section.
TVCC Is offering the
Workshop in cooperation
with Oregon State University
which is sponsoring a num
her of Career Education Per
sonnet Development Centers
throughout the State. The
program here will be directed
by instructors from the
Science Department. Wallace
Johnson and Steve Cox.
