Preludes Tahoe Trip
In a double ring ceremony
held in the evening of May
10, 1975. Miss Sharon Cleda
Blair became the bride of
John Wesley Hight. The
service, performed by Bishop
Cary Thompson, was held in
the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints in Nyssa.
Parents of the couple are
Mr. and Mrs Frell Blair and
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hight,
all of Nyssa.
The church was decorated
in roses, carnations, chrysan­
themums and lilies, in colors
of pink and white.
The bride wore a gown of
slipper satin, trimmed with
lace and seed pearls, with a
long train and a finger-tip
veil. She carried a bouquet of
pink roses and white carna­
tions.
Maid of Honor Shanna Bair
and Attendants Pam Jef­
feries and Lynn McKeeth, all
of Boise, wore lavender and
pink gowns. They wore
matching straw hats and each
carried a bouquet of lavender
and pink carnations.
Mrs. Hight wore a long
dress of lavender, while Mrs.
Blair wore one of pink. Both
wore corsages of lilies. The
men wore carnations.
Mario Reed Fife served as
Best Man.
Honored guests at the
wedding were the bride’s
brother and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Boyd Blair, Curtis,
Ryan and Garrin of New
Milford. Connecticut; the
bride's grandparents. Mr.
and Mrs. Rosemond Blair
from Lewiston, Utah; and the
bride's aunt, Mrs. Vesta
Hansen of Smithfield. Utah.
At the reception. Mrs.
Nina Cottle. Mrs. Vesta
Hansen and Mrs. Loretta
Blair served a three-tiered
cake, made by Wilda Stewart
of Nampa. The cake was
decorated with candied bells,
flowers and wedding rings,
topped by a centerpiece of
the same decoration, all in
pink and lavender.
Mrs. Marilyn Blair kept the
guestbook. Mrs. Carrie Fife.
Debbie Cox and Sherrie Cox
took care of the gifts. Marion
Child also assisted in the
reception, with Lori Miner.
Shelly Myrick and Jeannie
Jefferies as table servers.
The newlyweds spent their
honeymoon in Lake Tahoe.
Nevada and visited Reno.
Virginia City and the Pon­
derosa Ranch.
Both graduates of Nyssa
High School, the bride
attended Ricks College in
Rexburg. Idaho and the
groom attended the Univer­
sity of Idaho in Moscow. He
is employed with Albertson's
Land and Cattle Company.
The young Mr. and Mrs.
Hight now make their home
in Ontario.

NEWS
Members of Oregon Trail
Grange met in regular
session Thursday evening.
June 5, with Master protem
Don Somers conducting the
meeting.
Legislative
Chairman
Frank Sherwood reported on
the problems resulting from
the dam on the Nile River.
Since the usual flooding has
been controlled, many pools
have become stagnant resul­
ting in increased pollution
and insect pests.
Zoning Chairman Loyd
Adams reported on the
housing project west of Nyssa
which will extend from
Alberta Avenue south to
Cloverdale Avenue. The land
will be divided into acre
tracts.
Don Somers. Rodeo Parade
chairman for the Grange
entry, discussed plans for
work on a float which will
take place at the next regular
grange meeting.
Grange Insurance Agent
Wilbur Atherton reported
that trip insurance is avai­
lable to members. Mrs.
Atherton. Boulevard Grange,
was a visitor.
Plans for the grange picnic
were discussed and the date
of July 13 was set. More
information will come later.
Refreshments were served
by Marguerite Moss and Tom
and Violet Drydale.
The next regular meeting
will be held Thursday. June
19. 8:30 p.m.
Members
should come prepared to
work on the float.
CWA ACTIVITIES
The regular meeting of the
Oregon Trail Grange CWA
Gub was held Tuesday. June
3. at the Grange Hall.
The main order of business
was getting the quilt material
into the frame which was
accomplished under the di­
rection of Clara Price and
Lois Boenig.
Potluck lunch was served
at noon. Eric Boenig and
Loyd Adams joined the ladies
for the meal, but declined
when they were invited to do
some quilting. However, two
other guests. Nancy Albritton
and Dorothy Russell, did help
with the quilting. Members
will be quilting each after­
noon and all members are
urged to come and bring a
friend.
After lunch the regular
business meeting was con­
ducted
by Vice Chairman
Violet Drydale. The devo­
tional was given by Thelma
Parr and was entitled "Ser­
mons We See" by Edgar A.
Guest.
Needlework Chairman Vio­
let Drydale reminded mem­
bers of the contests in
crocheting, knitting or em­
broidery classifications. Ar­
ticles must be entered before
August 31.
Non-members
are eligible if sponsored by a
grange member.
The club members will not
meet again until Tuesday,
October 7. The meeting will
be at the home of Sadie
Metcalf with Violet Drydale
as co-hostess.
Vale Rebekahs Host
63rd District Meeting
The 63rd District meeting
of District No. 24 was hosted
by the Golden Rule Rebekah
Lodge No. 64 of Vale.
Thursday, June 5. 1975.
A potluck luncheon,
proceeding the meeting was
held at 12:30 p.m.
Regis­
tration was at 1 p.m.
The meeting opened in
ritualistic form at 1:30 p.m
with the officers of Golden
Rule Lodge No. 64 in the
chairs. The officers then
relinquished their chairs to
the District officers, with
Dorothy Winder as chairman
Escorted and introduced
were: Leigh Wilkens. Assem­
bly President of Oregon;
Marie Schaffer. Assembly
President of Idaho; Florence
Hinton. Grand Chaplain of
Idaho; Vida Nye. Past Assen»
bly President of Idaho; and
Blanche Imil. Past Assembly
President of Oregon. Several
committee members and
appointees from both Idaho
and Oregon were also intro­
duced.
Fourteen past chairmen
answered roll call and were
presented a marigold plant,
as were all the District
Officers. The marigold is the
flower of the
Assembly
President of Oregon.
A question and answer
period was held.
The election of officers
brought forth the following
results: Hazel Maggart of
Beatrice Lodge No. 82 of
Ontario, chairman; Helen
Pitta of Yellow Rose Lodge
No. 202 of Nyssa, vice-chair­
man; Leah Chapman. Beat
nee Lodge No. 82. Ontario,
secretary-treasurer.
The meeting next year will
be held in Ontario. There
were 48 members present
from the following Lodges:
Gem of the Mountains.
Caldwell; Fidility, Weiser;
Wild Rose, New Meadows;
Homedale. Pocatello, Boise.
Aloha-Columbia. The Dalles.
Scio. Vale. Ontario, and
Nyssa.

50th Anniversary
At an afternoon celebra­
tion. decorated with golden
iris and yellow June roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Arch Engel­
hardt marked their 50th
wedding anniversary.
The event was held June 8
in the Methodist Church
social room, where Mr. and
Mrs. Glen Alcorn were the
hosts .with a wedding cake
made by Muriel Engelhardt
of Nampa.
Mrs. Myrtle Sasser poured
the coffee, while Clarice Poor
served the punch. Mrs.
Helen Wilson and Mrs.
Pauline Boston gave further
assistance. The flowers were
furnished by Mr. and Mrs.
Ben McConnel.
Out-of-town guests at the
party were Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Engelhardt from Elsinore.
Calif.; Mrs. Elsie Connor
from The Dalles. Oregon;
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Engel­
hardt of Mountain Home.
Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Mike
Curta of Arock, Oregon; and
a telephone call came from
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Dick­
man in George. Iowa.
I SPECIAL GIFTS
Plans have been made for
an Adrian All-Alumni picnic,
to be held Sunday, July 27, in
the Adrian Park at 1 p.m. The
picnic is for all Adrian High
School graduates and their
families, from the first class
to the class of 1975.
Since this is the only form
of notification that will be
given out. individual class
members are asked to contact
others in their classes.
The class of '48 will supply
punch and coffee for the
event and the rest of the meal
is to be "pot luck." The
committee organizing the
picnic feels that "this will be
a time when old friends can
get together and visit."

Former Nyssa
Girl awarded
Julie Robb Edmondson, a
Speech Pathology major at
Idaho State University, has
been selected to receive an
Academic Scholarship for
Upperclassmen. Julie is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Robb and a 1971
graduate of Adrian High
School.
The scholarship, in recog­
nition of high scholastic
standing by the Associated
Students, through the Stu­
dent Senate, of Idaho State
University, is awarded to
three students; a sophomore,
a junior and a senior.
Julie, a junior, will receive
the scholarship for the fall
semester of the 1975-1976
academic year.
Engagement Announced
Shaw Family
Visits In Texas
Mrs. Dorothy Shaw and
family, accompanied by Mr*.
Hazel Tyler left Nyssa. May
6 Mrs. Tyler went as far as
Alliance. Nebraska where
she visited her brother and
sister. The family went on to
Texas with them.
They attended the gradua­
tion of Mrs. Shaw's daughter
Mrs. Armando Sepulveda,
and visited with the family
nearly a month.
They returned back th­
rough Nebraska, leaving
Woodrow Shelton at his
home in Plattsmouth and
picking up Mrs. Tyler at
Alliance. Nebraska. On the
wav through Wyoming, they
visited Mr. and Mrs. Art
Scheer in Torrington. They
spent a couple of days with
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fraser in
Casper and Clara Parnielv at
lusk.
Also, while in Nebraska
they visited Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Brown at Wahoo and Mr.
and Mrs. Dan Murrens in
Omaha.
Thev returned home. May
31.
Pollyanna Club
Plans Picnic
The Pollyanna Club met
Thursday afternoon with
Mrs. Betty White and Mrs.
Marge Ervin, co-hostess.
Twelve ladies were present.
Mrs Marge Ervin, president
had charge of the meeting
The minutes and treasurer
reports were given by Mrs.
Betty White. Roll call was
followed by each member
reading a joke. Mrs. Dale
Witt gave a reading Plans
were made to have the club
family picnic Sunday, July
13. It will be held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck
Conant. Serving will start at
12:30. It is Pot Luck. Bring
your table service, perhaps a
card table and a chair.
Former members and friends
in the surrounding area are
invited.
FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
The Friendship Circle met
Friday. June 6. at the IOOF
Hall with Leona Reeves,
president, presiding. Eight
members answered roll call.
There will be no meeting in
July. However, a picnic will
be held in August with the
time and place to be
announced.
Folowing the adjournment
of the meeting, two tables of
Bunco were in play. Winning
honors went to Leona Reeves
who took high. Wilma Os­
trom. low. and Orma Clea­
ver, traveling.

Enrique and Guadalupe Serrano, of Nyssa have announced
the engagement of their daughter, Angelica, to Larry S.
Guillen, son of Delores Guillen. Twin Falls. Idaho.
Miss Serrano is a 1973 graduate of Eastern Oregon State
College at La Grande, with a Bachelor's degree in bilingual
and bi-cultural education. She is currently teaching in
Nampa.
Mr. Guillen, a 1968 graduate of Brawley Union High
School, Brawley, California, is presently employed by the
federally funded G. 1. Forum in Caldwell and is also taking
courses at Boise State University.
An August 2 wedding is planned in Nyssa, followed by a
reception. A dance will then be held in Ontario.
The couple will reside in Nampa, following a honeymoon in
Mazatlan. Mexico.
