were guests at the home of
their son. Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Alexander in Chino , and
attended a surprise 25th
wedding anniversary party
for their son and his wife.
The party was given by the
Alexander's daughter. Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Neece (Mari­
lyn Alexander). After making
all the party preparations she
went to the hospital and
presented her parents with a
new eight and one-half pound
baby granddaughter. Cyntflia.
This is Mrs. Sasser’s first
great-grandchild. The Sas­
sers also visited with a
daughter. Mrs. Pam Smiley
and Bonnie in Downey.
Enroute home Mr. and
Mrs. Sasser called on Foy’s
sister. Mr. and Mrs. James

ACTIVITIES
The Nyssa Senior Citizens
met at their clubhouse on
Bower Avenue Wednesday,
May 28 with Erma Sparks
president, presiding. Follow­
ing the flag salute. 29

John Worrall and Mike
Burgwin. area planner for
Senior Citizens, answered
roll call.
The minutes were read and
approved as was the trea­
surers report. Leona Reeves
and Erma Sparks reported on
the advisory board meeting
they attended in Vale. The
Bicentennial Committee re-
ported and the group was
informed that 50 more
Bicentennial Medalions are
available to sell and Eulah
Carpenter and Hazel Smith
will sell them.
The Rev. Worrall talked
about the Senior Citizen
housing and announced that
the ground breaking for the
buildings will be delayed.
Mike Burgwin reported on
a series of things.
The ladies are still quilting.
The kitchen committee for
June is Vma Fox. Hazel Farr.
Eulah Carpenter and Valerie
Gruber.
Mrs. Dale Witt gave a
reading. The meeting was
closed with prayer by Ruth
Foster. Everyone enjoyed the
potluck dinner which was
served at noon.

Rodger D. Gamer.

merly of Nyssa, has received
a Master's degree in Agri­
cultural Economics from Iow a
State University at Ames.
Rodger is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Dee Gamer of rural
Nyssa.
Now working towards a.
Ph. D. at ISU. Rodger is a
research associate under Dr.
Earl O. Heady, a leading
agricultural economist in the
United States. They are
doing research involving
agricultural sector analysis.
Rodger is also advising Thai
students and will tour Thai­
land this summer.
Rodger and his wife, the
former Wendy Kennington of
Ontario, have six-month-old
daughter, Amy.
Those from Nyssa atten­
ding Rodger's commence­
ment at Ames were his
grandparents. Mr. and Mrs.
Maurice Glover, his sisters,
Julie and Kelly, and his
mother. Before returning to
Oregon, they visited Navoo,
Illinois, a town settled by
Mormons in 1837 and aban­
doned in 1844. but which is
now being restored.

each officer and courtesy lady
with a lovely gift.
Open installation for new
officers will be held June 23
at the Masonic Hall at 8 p.m.
Practice will be June 22 at 2
p.m.

Denise graduated from Adrian High School and TVCC and
attended C. of I. She is now employed st Kit Travel Trailers
of Caldwell.
Nick graduated from Adrian High School and attended
TVCC. He is now farming in Ridgeview. A late summer
wedding is planned.
Two Earn OSU Honors
Oregon State University
has announced the names of
senior honor graduates this
year, including two from
Nyssa.
Eighty-seven seniors will
graduate "with highest scho­
larship" and another 482
“with high scholarship." The
“highest scholarship' desig­
nation requires a grade point
average of 3.75 or better with
straight-A representing 4
points and B. 3. To graduate
“with high scholarship,"
students must have at least a
3.15 average.
OSU's 106th annual com­
mencement is scheduled for
Sunday. June 8. at 2 p.m. in
Gill Coliseum. About 3.400
degrees will be conferred this
year.
High graduates wear a
special orange honor cord on
the shoulder of their aca­
demic gowns.

4-H Cooking Beavers
Cooking Beavers 4-H met
at Sandy Sisson's house
Tuesday, May 20 at 3:30 p.m.
We made kabobs out of
strawberries, bananas, oran­
ges. and pineapples.
Mrs.
Sisson made many interes­
ting examples. Then we
made vegetable kabobs. we
used olives, mushrooms,
carrots, and other vege­
tables. We then used meats
such as hotdogs, roast, and
bologna. Then Mrs. Sisson
judged the kabobs. Some
were better than others in
style, but they all tasted as
good. We individually set a
make-believe table. At 5:30
p.m. we went home. We had
lots of fun. Our next meeting
will be at Sandy's house
again on Tuesday, June 3.,
1975 at 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
